SD-WAN Replaces MPLS for International Estate.
The Background
Our client, a global technology company with 6 locations in 5 countries with 3 data centres, relies on a robust and powerful computer network. However, their existing network was based on an outdated set of criteria that no longer provided the speed and reliability required. We identified the need for a complete network architecture upgrade and a new service provider. Our goal was to provide a more relevant, high performance network with the quality support to go with it.
The solution
We mapped the network to a port level of detail and implemented net-flow and device level monitoring to provide the data required to design the upgraded network architecture. Our audit and vulnerability assessment identified almost 100 opportunities for improvement. The transition to SD-WAN delivered a simpler network with increased performance, stronger security and greater visibility with reduced overhead costs.

The background
A financial consultancy employing over 1350 staff across 16 UK sites. Rapid growth and acquisitions has necessitated network expansion, an increase in capacity and the integration of new network assets. The company is also coping with the move from office to home working and back again, whilst migrating their staff from Skype to Microsoft Teams. This expanding estate needs increased support, greater visibility and on-going maintenance.
The solution
Our audit, vulnerability assessment, net-flow and device level monitoring gave us a clear understanding of the existing areas of weakness. A series of maintenance windows allowed us to reconfigure the network environment whilst implementing our Network Care Plan. In Q1 2021 we started the full scale network transformation to deliver a high performance SD-WAN network with 24/7 monitoring, maintenance and support.

Network Care Plan
Maintaining performance, availability and security.
The background
Our client has distribution and engineering hubs in 48 physical sites throughout the UK. They use a communications network for critical data flows, critical systems and environmental monitoring. They also support traditional user and guest business activities. They have a legacy of technical resources, assets and services shared over several complex systems including WAN, LAN and WiFi. We needed to disentangle and upgrade this network infrastructure, whilst keeping all 480 network switches operational to serve the business uninterrupted whilst implementing technology refresh which optimised the estate.
The solution
On a site by site basis we installed 140 x 48 port & 10 x 24 Port CISCO 9300 across the estate. The work was managed via the clients Project Director working with our Project Manager to deliver new assets, create visibility and implement maintenance and support of all the network assets. We now provide 24/7 support with our Network Care Plan for the entire estate. Our specialist technicians ensure that network performance, availability and security is maintained and we assist in upgrades and replacements.
